Our Global Partner initiative now supports nineteen organizations working in their local communities, who expand access to reproductive health care, remove barriers to girls’ education, and preserve local natural resources through an integrated “population, health, environment” (PHE) approach.
Last year, supporters like you helped us invest more than $600,000 in our Global Partners initiative—a truly transformative level of support for these smaller organizations. Thanks to the generosity of Population Connection’s donors, some notable achievements included:
* More than 12,000 reproductive health services provided to people in Venezuela by Turimiquire Foundation, and more than 16,000 such services provided to people in Guatemala by WINGS Guatemala. Services included tubal ligations, vasectomies, contraceptive counseling, contraceptive implants and supplies, and emergency contraception.
* Scholarships for more than 1,000 girls in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia, through multiple Global Partners, who cover fees ranging from tuition, books and classroom materials, menstrual health supplies, and even room and board. Such scholarships empower girls to stay in school, help to prevent teen pregnancy and early marriage, and foster informed choices by girls about their bodies and their futures.
