** 2025: A Look Back
------------------------------------------------------------
As we count down the final days of 2025, the BikeArlington and WalkArlington team is grateful to count you among the many volunteers, community members, and colleagues who helped fulfill our multimodal mission. Whether by walking, biking, or inspiring others to choose active transportation, you played a key role in these important moments from the past year:

In May, Arlington County joined other jurisdictions throughout D.C., Maryland, and Virginia in celebrating Bike to Work Day 2025 ([link removed]) . Arlington’s Rosslyn and Ballston pit stops had the greatest number of rider registrations out of more than 100 pit stops in the region!

In August, Arlington County launched its E-bike Voucher Program ([link removed]) in partnership with EcoAction Arlington ([link removed]) . More than 2,800 people applied, and 243 lucky applicants received vouchers for the purchase of a new e-bike. The program is funded by an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant from the Department of Energy.

In September, WalkArlington partnered with the Black Heritage Museum of Arlington ([link removed]) and the John M. Langston Citizens Association ([link removed]) to host a Halls Hill History Walk led and narrated by longtime neighborhood residents, including author and Citizens Association President Wilma Jones, pictured above, speaking at the Segregation Wall. The opportunity to meet these local heroes and hear their stories was a wonderful experience we won’t soon forget.

In October, Arlington County changed the name of its signature Car-Free Diet ([link removed]) program to Transportation Resources for Arlington County, or TRAC ([link removed]) —“The How-to for Every Where-to.” The Street Team is still on track, sharing comprehensive transportation resources and information at events, farmers markets, and community centers.

Register for our W&OD Trail Cleanup ([link removed]) on Monday, January 19, which is part of Volunteer Arlington’s Annual MLK Day of Service. It’s a great opportunity to get fresh air and do some good. (Photo above Courtesy © Lloyd Wolf Columbia Pike Documentary Project).

On Monday, January 26, enjoy a free screening of a documentary ([link removed]) about the Rails to Trails movement, hosted by Encore Community Learning. The event will feature a Q&A with Peter Harnik, founder of the Rails to Trails Conservancy and executive producer of the film.

Watch your in-box for information on BikeArlington’s spring bike classes and group rides ([link removed]) , which will both begin in April. We’ll also be launching a five-week Beginner Biking E-mail Program to get you road-ready for your Bike to Work Day 2026 ([link removed]) commute on Friday, May 15.
