John,
Thanks to your support, our launch year was everything we had hoped it would be, and then some.
We spent a long time fine-tuning The Montana Plan as a way to defeat Citizens United. This wasn’t something we were going to release until we got the details just right — including multiple reviews from national legal experts — and then the day finally came.
Now, we’ve spent the last several months telling everyone who will listen to our plan: while the Citizens United decision closed the door on using campaign finance reform to limit corporate influence in our politics, we’re using two centuries of Supreme Court corporation law instead.
People like you who want to see our democracy restored have stepped up in a major way — over 10,000 people, actually — and we’re several steps into deploying our legal strategy here in Montana as a ballot initiative. When successful, this means the people will be able to enshrine these rights in our state constitution in 2026, and create a blueprint for other states to do the same thing.
We submitted all of our paperwork to the State of Montana. The Attorney General deemed our language “insufficient,” but we filed suit, and now, we’re under consideration by our state Supreme Court.
In the meantime, we’ve built a bipartisan coalition of Montana leaders who endorse our plan, as well as a national network of thousands of supporters who all want their own states to be next. Recent polling shows that our approach is favored by over 70% of voters across the political spectrum — a healthy margin for any ballot initiative.
Now, we’re on the cusp of launching our signature collection campaign to qualify for the ballot.
This year, we told you about our one shot to make Citizens United irrelevant — and next year, we’re finally making it happen.
We need the help of every person we can reach to back the Montana Plan with a contribution today. Can we count on you to join our team ahead of the New Year by chipping in $1 today?
Every day is one step closer to beating Citizens United. Thank you for being part of the team that will get the job done!
