Dear PAVe Supporters,

We want to update you with breaking news about Puff Bar, the disposable e-cigarette company that has blatantly targeted teens, even during the pandemic.

Last week, we told you about Puff Bar’s sudden surprising announcement that it had “ceased all U.S. sales". Within days, as we suspected, Puff Bar attempted to wiggle out of its original statement, changing the wording on its website to "ceased all online sales and distribution in the US."

Too little, too late.

This morning, FDA announced it has issued warning letters to Puff Bar (and several others) informing them that they are in direct violation of federal rules and demanding that they immediately end all sales. Puff Bar has 15 days to respond with details of its compliance. You can read FDA’s announcement here.

We are gratified by FDA’s actions and want to thank you again for joining our FDA-letter writing campaign calling on the agency to hold Puff Bar accountable for its illegal predatory behavior.

However, today’s move is merely a step in the right direction. There are hundreds of other Puff Bars out there marketing cheap flavored vapes to minors, operating illegally and immorally. In September, after many years of delay, all e-cigarettes created after August, 2016 must come off the market and formally apply for FDA approval. This regulatory process should be transparent, but the agency has so far refused.

Most importantly, FDA must ban all flavored e-cigarettes. Research has proven that flavors are hooking kids on these dangerous products that contain enormous amounts of nicotine, a highly-addictive substance that harms developing lungs and brains. We’ll keep you posted as developments unfold and actions are needed.

Thank you so much again for joining in this battle to keep today’s young people from becoming a generation of nicotine addicts and Big Tobacco’s lifelong customers.

Our voices continue to be heard.

Best,

The PAVe Team
