Last month, after forcing the longest government shutdown in American history, Republicans finally pushed through their budget resolution. Unfortunately, their bill will end health insurance tax credits and cause premiums to rise, in some cases as much as quadruple, for thousands of Oregonians and Americans. I voted no in the House.
The Senate has already rejected a bad Republican health care proposal, and now Mike Johnson is planning a vote on his health care bill. It doesn't do much, and it certainly doesn't include an extension of ACA premium tax credits.
It's clear that to make healthcare affordable and accessible to all, we must flip the House.
Republicans have voted dozens of times over the years to repeal the Affordable Care Act, but they have no good alternative. Repealing the ACA could mean raising the cap on insulin costs, barring the government from negotiating prescription drug prices, and ending the protection for pre-existing conditions.
Simply put, the Republicans' plans will make premiums so unaffordable that people will be forced to go without any insurance at all. This is unacceptable.
Today I'm asking you to join me in fighting to protect and improve healthcare. If you can chip in, your support is going to work to flip the seats we need to win back a majority and fix this broken system. Can you pitch in today? [[link removed]]
