Dear John,

I wanted to make sure you saw this email from Shahid.

To show solidarity for the protesters in Portland taking a stand against police brutality, we are asking you to sign our petition:

When federal law enforcement officers are sent to Portland to suppress protestors, this not only violates the Constitution, but shows us that our federal leadership will do anything to suppress injustices and keep the status quo.

We are asking you to stand with the Portland protesters- can you please sign?

In Solidarity,

Team Shahid

John,

You’d have to be living under a rock not to hear about it: In Portland this week, protesters were herded into unmarked vehicles, by federal police wearing unmarked generic uniforms.

Mark Pettibone, one of the victims, called the experience terrifying. He compared  it to a dark sci-fi novel by dystopian author Philip K. Dick of “Blade Runner” and “Man in the HIgh Castle” fame.

Unfortunately, it was real, a scheme dreamed up by President Trump’s Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolfe.

We’ve known for a long time that Trump had fascist tendencies, but this event was just blatant. Its roots, however, can be traced to someone who’s been in Congress since Trump was nothing but a financially failed casino owner.

Of course, I’m talking about my opponent, Nancy Pelosi.

For 33 years straight, Nancy Pelosi has greased the way for Trump and his fellow Republicans. Together, they’re taking this nation to a dark place without privacy, liberty or human rights. Can you chip in to help stop them?

Here are just some of the ways Pelosi paved the way for this unconstitutional crackdown:

Supporting the 1033 program, which gives away surplus federal military gear and vehicles to local police forces. Though the Portland abductors themselves were Homeland Security and U.S. Marshalls, local cops armed with Uncle Sam’s spare thug gear have desensitized all of us.
Supporting continuing coverups of executive secrets, from CIA torture to NSA spying. The creation of a de facto secret police that kidnaps protesters is just a logical extension of this record.
Failing to impeach Trump for corruption, a much stronger case than one Ukraine phone call. If she had, he probably would have been removed from office for good
Supporting the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which Barack Obama signed back in 2011, legalizing the detention of anyone labeled a “terrorist,” foreign or domestic, for as long as the government wants.

With your help, we’re on the way to replacing Pelosi’s agenda with a progressive one: Defunding and demilitarizing the police, respecting citizens’ privacy,  protecting protesters under the First Amendment. Can you make a donation today?

Trump may have swung the axe on this one, but Nancy Pelosi sharpened it, and it looks like Portland is just the beginning. That’s a chilling future, but we can fight Trump’s authoritarian nightmare—starting with his enabler-in-chief.

Thanks for standing with us.

Shahid
