I am back in Washington, D.C. for another week of legislative activity, committee hearings, and meetings. If you would like more information on what I am working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead This week, the House will vote on several key bills focused on energy reliability, land management, public safety, and health care reform. On Monday, we started the week off strong by passing the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, which brings whole milk back to school cafeterias and empowers parents, not Washington bureaucrats, to make nutrition decisions for their children. As a fifth-generation farm kid, I know how important dairy is to both our kids’ health and our agricultural economy. I was proud to cosponsor this legislation. Later today, the House will consider the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act, legislation that lowers premiums, increases transparency, and expands access to care. For too long, Kansans have felt the impact of higher costs and fewer choices under the Democrats’ broken health care system. This bill tackles the real drivers of rising premiums and empowers workers, employers, and families with better options and more affordable coverage, and I am hopeful it will advance in the U.S. House of Representatives. As we conclude the legislative year, I am really proud of all that our Republican majority has been able to deliver for the country. A little over a year ago, the country reelected President Trump and our House majority to secure our border, rein in Bidenflation, and get our country back on track. Over the past year, we have worked tirelessly to roll back burdensome Green New Deal regulations, support President Trump’s efforts to enforce the law and secure the border for good, and lower taxes and costs for American families. We have had a really strong start in ushering in the Golden Age of America, and I look forward to all we will accomplish in 2026. Supporting our Service Members Last week, the House passed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026. I was proud to support our men and women in uniform at Fort Riley and around the globe by voting to give our service members a 4% pay raise, rebuild our defense industrial base, and restore merit-based standards in our military. The NDAA makes our troops a priority and better positions us to promote peace through strength while codifying several of President Trump’s executive orders that have put our military first again. The bill also strengthens our national defense by expanding counter-drone capabilities, revitalizing American shipbuilding, enhancing nuclear deterrence, and supporting troop deployments at the southern border. I am forever grateful for the sacrifice our military and their families make every day, and this NDAA restores the readiness, morale, and support they deserve. Passing the NDAA Congratulating Big First Student Athletes I had the honor of recognizing four outstanding high school football programs from the Big First that brought home state championships this season. In 6A, Manhattan High School delivered a dominant 27–0 win over Olathe Northwest. In 5A, Salina Central earned its first state title in 20 years with a 51–34 victory over Basehor-Linwood. Sterling High School won the 1A championship with a hard-fought 35–34 win over Rossville, and in 8-Man Division II, Hanover claimed a 28–20 victory over Victoria. These players, coaches, and communities exemplify the best of Kansas high school athletics. As a former state champion myself from Quinter High School, I know the pride that comes with being part of something bigger than yourself. These championships are a reflection of discipline, teamwork, and the support of strong communities. Congratulations to the student-athletes, their schools, and the families who cheered them on all season long. You have made Kansas proud.
