*Minnesota Office of Higher Educations Awards One Million in Emergency Assistance Grants*

*St. Paul, Minn.— *The Minnesota Office of Higher Education (OHE) has awarded 10 colleges and universities in the state with 2025 Emergency Assistance for Postsecondary Students (EAPS) Grants, totaling $1 million. Funding is awarded to private, non-profit postsecondary institutions and tribal colleges so they can provide support to students facing emergency housing, food, and transportation costs that would otherwise prevent them from completing their education

*“We know the cost of attending college is more than tuition and fees,”* OHE Commissioner Dennis Olson said. *“Housing, food, and transportation costs also factor into a student’s budget. When students face unexpected financial strain, they are often left with a choice between continuing their education and leaving their program. These grants play a vital role in supporting the whole student, ensuring they have the resources necessary to complete their degree.”*

Established by the Minnesota Legislature in 2017, EAPS fosters postsecondary attendance and student retention by providing funding and resources to eligible Minnesota colleges and universities to support the emergency grant programs they provide for their students.

Grantees can receive up to $150,000 for 2026-2027 biennium with up to $60,000 per year.
