Hi John, it’s Sarah here. I’m humbly requesting your help with my campaign for Congress, but first, I’d like to tell you a bit about my path here.

I never expected to run for office. But throughout my life, I have been driven by a call to help my community.

It’s that call that brought me to New Mexico as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer. It’s what motivated me to become a hospital chaplain, where I helped families through some of their most challenging moments. It’s what eventually led me to becoming a Lutheran minister. When I saw so many members of my community feeling left behind, I ran for Iowa’s State Senate in 2020.

I’ve stepped up to win tough races before, flipping two seats from red to blue and winning re-election even while Trump carried my district. Now I’m standing up for Iowa’s working families to take on the broken politics holding us back. Because that’s always been my approach to service: When people in my community feel left behind, I stand up.

John, I’ve never lost a race before, but my last election came down to just 29 votes. With your help, we can keep my record going and flip this seat blue too. So I hope you’ll chip in before midnight. Every contribution means a lot to me and will truly make a difference in a race we’re expecting to come down to just a handful of votes.
