Which kind will you be?


I don’t like to divide the world into two kinds of people. But today, just for the sake of argument, let’s say that there are two kinds.

One kind of person reads The Christian Century and benefits immensely from it. They find it stimulating, relevant, classy, and a near-perfect mix of spiritual, theological, intellectual, and practical insights for living the Christian life. They are so happy that such a magazine exists that they support it financially. They’ve heard that nearly 30 percent of the Century’s budget is dependent on individual donations. And they know that means serious dollars.

The other kind of person reads The Christian Century and benefits immensely from it. They find it stimulating, relevant, classy, and a near-perfect mix of spiritual, theological, intellectual, and practical insights for living the Christian life. They’re happy that such a magazine exists, and they’re confident that other people will support it so that they don’t have to. After all, it arrives quite effortlessly, and nothing about the look of the magazine suggests that the whole operation is a nonprofit enterprise.

If you’re the second kind of person, please think seriously about becoming the other kind. Right now, some friends of the magazine are offering a dollar-for-dollar match for you to take advantage of.
