We need to talk about our newly endorsed candidate, Representative Gabby Salinas.

Gabby is an incumbent in the TN House of Representatives, District 96. It’s critical that we not only expand pro-choice leadership in this abortion ban state, but also that we do everything we can to defend the pro-choice legislators who are already courageously standing on the front lines of this fight in TN.

Here’s why this email is actually super time-sensitive: As an incumbent legislator, Rep. Salinas is not allowed to fundraise while she’s in session in the TN State Capitol. That means starting in JANUARY, she will be at a major disadvantage while her opponents will be able to continue campaigning and raising money.

That’s why, if abortion access for ALL American women is important to you, we’re asking you to help us protect one of the few pro-choice women in the TN legislature TODAY. (And this might be the last time we can send an email like this on behalf of Rep. Salinas.)

Gabby has an incredible life story. She has been through more than anyone should ever have to endure – but she turned her pain into action. She’s a 3X cancer survivor who dreamed about helping people through science. Before running for office, she had a career at the St. Jude Department of Chemical Biology and Therapeutics – the same institution that saved her life as a child. Then, she made history as the first Latina Democrat and the first LGBTQ woman elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives.

Gabby’s life story has made her believe that, together, we can make the impossible possible. We couldn’t agree more.

Plus, here is what Gabby has to say about protecting abortion rights:

“I am pro-choice and have served on the board of the local Planned Parenthood Affiliate and now serve on the Planned Parenthood Federation of America board. I worked against the constitutional amendment that took away abortion protections here in TN and my voting record as an elected reflects my long history of fighting for abortion rights in my state and beyond.”

As a reminder, TN ranks among the bottom in the nation for maternal health outcomes, and women in TN are living under a near-total abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest. It’s critical that we protect pro-choice leaders in this state as we work to chip away at the anti-choice, male majority.
