John,
The House of Representatives is expected to vote today on a health care package that will do nothing to make health insurance more affordable and won’t extend the ACA premium tax credits before they expire on December 31st.
If the tax credits are allowed to expire, millions of people will see their insurance premiums more than double. Nationwide, people with low-to-middle incomes will see premiums rise, sometimes by many thousands of dollars. It’s also important to remember that for some people with very low incomes, the current enhanced tax credits are their only route to health insurance, because they don’t qualify for Medicaid.
Now House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) rejected a vote on extending the ACA premium tax credits and instead will hold a vote on legislation that does nothing to address the skyrocketing cost of premiums.
Send a message to Congress today, demanding they force a vote to extend the ACA premium tax credits before December 31st.

Congress and the White House promised they would reduce health care costs for everyday people, but because Republicans chose to spend this year focusing on permanent tax breaks for billionaires, rather than affordability for most of us, the ACA enhanced premium tax credits will expire on December 31st. This will result in countless people dropping their health insurance, while those who remain on it will likely have to choose between paying for health insurance premiums versus other necessities.
Instead of addressing this crisis, the House bill up for vote today undermines protections for people with pre-existing conditions while driving costs up for many.1 We don’t need distractions or further attacks on health coverage. We need Congress to step forward and prevent massive increases in ACA premiums for millions.
Time is of the essence. Join us to tell Congress to vote on a clean bill that will extend the ACA premium tax credits before they expire on December 31st.
Send a letter to your Representative and tell them to vote to extend the Affordable Care Act’s premium tax credits before it’s too late.
Thank you for all you do,
