I can’t talk about health care in the abstract sense, folks.
For me, it’s personal.
After the car crash that took my wife and daughter, I can’t imagine what would have happened if my boys didn’t receive immediate health care for their injuries.
And 40 years later, when my son Beau was diagnosed with terminal cancer, I can’t fathom what would have happened if the insurance companies had said for the last 6 months of his life, “you’re on your own.”
But I know I’ve been lucky. I think health care is a right, not a privilege — but for too many Americans that isn’t the case.
That’s why I won’t give up this fight. When people talk about tearing down Obamacare, I take it personally.
