Dear John, As if things aren't bad enough, ALEC (the American Legislative Exchange Council) and the far right are waging a dark money campaign to force the first constitutional convention since 1787 in order to enshrine their Project 2025 agenda into the U.S. Constitution and give President Trump even more power. Their goal? Lock in fossil fuel plutocrats’ control, hamstring our democracy, and “reverse 115 years of progressivism.” The endgame would radically change America as we know it. “Con con” proponents are proposing radical changes to the Constitution that would lock in nine justices as the Supreme Court maximum, invalidate the Affordable Care Act and virtually every labor, environmental, and civil rights protection enacted since the New Deal, and allow a majority of state legislatures to nullify federal laws and regulations they don’t like.
