FIT welcomes Dr. Jason A. Staples to deliver our Shabbat morning message AND an indepth afternoon presentation on the meaning of “All Israel will be saved" in Romans 11.

Please bring a lunch for yourself during the intermission and be prepared for an extended Shabbat day of learning. There are also volunteer opportunities in assisting with children and audio & video recording if you feel called to support this special occasion.

Dr. Jason A. Staples (Ph.D., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at NC State University, where he teaches on biblical literature, early Judaism, Christian origins, ethics, globalism, conflict, and methods/theory in the study of religion and society.

He is the author of two major Cambridge University Press monographs: Paul and the Resurrection of Israel: Jews, Former Gentiles, Israelites (2024) ([link removed]) and The Idea of Israel in Second Temple Judaism: A New Theory of People, Exile, and Israelite Identity (2021), ([link removed]) both of which have been widely discussed and praised by reviewers as field-shaping contributions to Pauline studies and Israelite identity in Second Temple Judaism.

Dr. Staples’ peer-reviewed research has appeared in leading journals including Journal of Biblical Literature, New Testament Studies, Journal for the Study of the New Testament, Harvard Theological Review, and Zeitschrift für die neutestamentliche Wissenschaft. His broader scholarly contributions also include reference works such as entries for The Dictionary of Paul and His Letters (2nd ed.) (e.g., “Empire” and “Body of Christ”), and he is slated for major forthcoming translation/editorial work for the New Tyndale Version (including section editor responsibilities for the Pauline Epistles and translation of Luke, Acts, 1–2 Thessalonians, and Colossians).

His academic honors and support include the U.S. Department of Education’s Jacob K. Javits Fellowship, membership in UNC’s Royster Society of Fellows, and multiple teaching/travel awards and fellowships during his graduate training. He has also served the field through professional editorial and peer-review roles (including editorial board service and refereeing for major academic presses and journals), alongside leadership roles in scholarly groups and sections.

Beyond the academy, Dr. Staples brings a distinctive public-facing profile: he has worked for over fifteen years in sports media and analysis (including roles with InsideCarolina.com and as host of the Unconquered Podcast), and he has coached football at the high school level and as a private quarterbacks/wide receivers coach. He is also an experienced voice actor/audiobook narrator and a contract/freelance copyeditor.
