Hello John,

In a year when the world feels increasingly heavy for LGBTQ+ youth, I think about what it means to carve out pockets of joy. While overseeing our gaming and livestreaming work, I experience firsthand how digital spaces can become a refuge. For so many queer people, gaming isn’t just entertainment. It’s a place to exist freely, to explore identities, and to belong without needing permission.

Twitch has become one of the most powerful tools in our efforts to uplift, empower, and connect LGBTQ+ youth around the globe. When the world feels loud, overwhelming, or unsafe, our channel offers something different.

It’s why we’re going live today with our Queerathon celebration [[link removed]]: eight hours of community and queer joy, including LGBTQ+ streamers playing games, our Youth Voices ambassadors in podcast-style conversation, and queer creators and celebrities coming together in support of It Gets Better’s mission. It’s an intentional act of care during the holiday season, built to offer a soft place for youth to land.
