From the Desk of Eskinder Negash
President & CEO, USCRI
Dear Friend,
I am writing to share an important update on the challenges that immigrants and refugees face heading into 2026. Constant policy shifts are fueling worry and significant hardship for the families USCRI serves. The Administration has announced plans to reevaluate the cases of each of the 233,000 refugees resettled over the past four years, and all asylum applications have been paused. These decisions are devastating for thousands of people seeking safety, including those whom USCRI has supported in rebuilding their lives.
At the same time, USCRI continues to grapple with significant federal funding losses. While we have sought to do more with less, we have been forced to eliminate programs and reduce staff. More cuts are expected in 2026, threatening essential services and our ability to fight for stable, rights-respecting immigration policies. I invite you to hear more in my own words:

Will you make a gift today ([link removed]) to help us stabilize services and protect vulnerable communities? Your support is critical as we face unprecedented challenges.
Together, we can ensure that refugees and immigrants receive the humane treatment they deserve.
Despite these hardships, we remain steadfast in our mission. In November, I visited Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, home to more than 300,000 people—mostly women and children. The conditions are unimaginable. Yet, we saw how even modest support can transform lives. I am humbly reminded that our mission at USCRI is more critical today than ever before.
Friend, your year-end gift will make an immediate and meaningful difference. ([link removed]) Together, we can ensure that refugees and immigrants receive the humane treatment they deserve—here in the U.S. and around the world.
Thank you for standing with us during this critical time. We will keep you informed of our progress and the impact of your generosity.
With deep appreciation,
Eskinder Negash
President and CEO
P.S. With your gift ([link removed]) , we can protect essential services and ensure that vulnerable families are not left behind in 2026.
