Trump is attempting to slash federal funding for school mental health grants that train the psychologists and mental health professionals our students rely on every single day. These specialists support kids facing trauma, bullying, anxiety, depression, and crises that threaten their safety and their futures.

Trump wants this funding to stop on December 31, claiming the program is “harmful” because it focuses on diversifying the mental health workforce… even though students are more likely to seek help when they can talk to professionals who understand their lived experiences.

To make matters worse, states are now locked in a legal battle with the Trump Administration just to access funds that Congress already approved in 2022 — $1 billion specifically designated for five-year school mental health programs. If Trump succeeds, those resources disappear.
