Committee Wrap Up

On Thursday, my House Republican Budget Committee colleagues and I held a productive roundtable with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin. We discussed a variety of topics, including the EPA’s historic deregulation initiatives and incredible termination of Joe Biden’s Green New Scam spending. These efforts prioritize economic growth, commonsense protections, and lower costs — all critical steps toward getting our country back on track.

As a fiscal hawk, I applauded Administrator Zeldin’s zero tolerance policy for waste, fraud, and abuse — which has resulted in $30 billion in savings. Under the Biden Administration, the EPA carelessly wasted Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars, raising numerous concerns over fraud and conflicts of interest. In addition to thanking Administrator Zeldin for exposing and eliminating this abuse, I highlighted the need to hold corrupt actors accountable for their involvement in these schemes.

Rep. Clyde Announces 2025 Congressional App Challenge Winners

Last week, I announced the winners of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for Georgia’s Ninth District. This year’s competition featured six talented student submissions from across the District, each creating original software applications that reflect creativity, problem-solving, and a commitment to innovation. After a competitive evaluation process, the following winners were selected:

First Place: Krish Tripathy’s “Pulmo Lens ” | Woodward Academy
Second Place: Michael Wang’s “Ten8Link” | North Gwinnett High School
Third Place: Lihn Do’s “Ace AP STEM” | Fulton Science Academy

Congratulations to Krish on winning first place in this year’s Congressional App Challenge! His innovative design provides an effective way for patients and health care professionals to improve detection of pneumonia, showcasing how coding can address real-world challenges. I’d also like to congratulate Michael and Lihn for their impressive skills and creativity, as well as to thank the team at Strategic Logix for serving as this year’s judges for the Ninth District.

District Spotlight

As y’all know, the Georgia Bulldogs recently became back-to-back SEC Champions after defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide in dominant fashion. Last week, I took to the House floor to congratulate the Dawgs on their impressive victory. During my remarks, I highlighted the talented players from the Ninth District — including Rabun County’s very own Gunner Stockton. After throwing for 156 yards and three touchdown passes, Gunner rightly earned the title of SEC Championship MVP.

This exciting win secured Georgia’s spot in the College Football Playoff with a first-round bye. I wish my alma mater the best of luck as they advance to the Sugar Bowl and compete to bring home yet another national championship title.

Week Ahead

This week, lawmakers will meet for our final session week of 2025 to debate the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act, which reforms our health care system by improving options, expanding choice, lowering premiums, and increasing both transparency and competition.

We will also consider numerous pieces of additional legislation, including:

H.R. 4776, the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act: This legislation reforms the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) to streamline the permitting process and agency procedures by restricting NEPA lawsuits to parties impacted by a project, putting in place reasonable filing deadlines, and restoring NEPA to its original purpose and scope.
H.R. 3616, the Reliable Power Act: This bill amends the Federal Power Act to require the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to assess regulations that may impact grid reliability before finalizing new rules.
H.R. 498, the Do No Harm in Medicaid Act: This legislation prevents federal Medicaid funding being used for so-called “gender transition” procedures for minors.

H.R. 3492, the Protect Children’s Innocence Act: This bill makes it a crime for doctors to perform genital or bodily mutilation or chemical castration sex-change procedures on minors.
