Happy Hanukkah, from my family to yours!
No matter what holiday you’re celebrating this season, we’re sending you love and kindness from Chicago.
As my family gathers to celebrate, we’re also mourning after the devastating antisemitic attack on a Hanukkah celebration in Australia. What should have been a joyful first day of our holiday turned into one of devastation and terror.
I’m taking this painful moment as a reminder of what we’re all fighting for: a safer, more just future for everyone, especially those that we draw close to us in these moments.
My Judaism teaches me that we have an obligation to “Tikkun Olam,” to repair the world. This Hannukah, I am driven by the faith that a better world is possible - one where no one has to fear because of the holiday they celebrated this winter, who they love, or their immigration status.
So my hope for you this holiday season is that however you celebrate, you and your family find a season of peace and understanding.
🕎 Happy Holidays,
Robert Peters
