It’s embarrassing, but also points to how Lauren Boebert will lose this election.
John,
When Lauren Boebert became a self-described “Gigi” at age 36, you might be forgiven for thinking “Maybe now she will calm down and set a good example for her kids and grandkids."
Nope. If anything, she has doubled down on the crazy, embarrassing, and selfish behavior that keeps her name in the headlines and her reputation in the gutter.
Take Boebert’s involvement in one of the more open and shut political scandals of the last few years: unabashed grifter and disgraced former Congressman George Santos.
Santos lied about almost every detail of his personal life in order to appear more attractive to voters. He was convicted of felony fraud, multiple counts of campaign finance violations and lying to investigators.
Santos is a liar, a fraudster, and a cheat—and now, he is a free man thanks to a Trump pardon that Lauren Boebert worked furiously hard to secure. Which is why it must have stung when Boebert and her entourage were hassled at the entrance to George Santos’ “exclusive” D.C. Christmas party:
But these personal scandals aren’t just silly or ridiculous: they erode Boebert’s already-thin level of support in this district she barely knows and is not from.
Boebert is only in Congress because of a 546 vote margin. In 2024, as her Democratic opponent, Trisha Calvarese had the best performance a Democrat has ever had in this district, overperforming Kamala Harris by 6 pts as Boebert underperformed Trump in every single county.
Voters in CO-04 don’t just shake their heads when Boebert acts like this. They write her off. And we work even harder to find them, learn what makes them tick, and win their support.
