To keep Minnesotans safe, we have to hold corporations accountable when their greed or negligence helps people harm our communities.

John,

To keep Minnesotans safe, we have to hold corporations accountable when their greed or negligence helps people harm our communities.

That’s why I sued Hyundai and Kia for failing to include industry-standard auto-theft technology in their vehicles. Their actions unleashed a wave of auto thefts across Minnesota, and these stolen cars were often used in other crimes or involved in crashes — costing Minnesotans their cars, their hard-earned money, and sometimes even their lives.

Today, I’m pleased to share that we reached a settlement with the auto manufacturers. Hyundai and Kia will be required to install anti-theft devices — at no cost to the owner — in theft-prone vehicles. In addition, the companies will pay millions to states to defray the costs of the investigation and to provide restitution to consumers whose cars were damaged by thieves.

This is what it means to serve as the People’s Lawyer: standing up to powerful special interests, protecting Minnesotans, and delivering major wins.

I’m running to continue doing exactly that, but I need your help. My campaign’s first and only public reporting deadline of the year is on December 31. To prove we have what it takes to win this race, we must reach our $50,000 fundraising goal before then.

Will you pitch in $10, $25, $50, or whatever you can to help us reach our end-of-year goal and keep protecting Minnesotans?
