Of course Reps Tiffany, Van Orden, and Wied would bring this hateful legislation back now. To try to distract from the fact that they are ignoring the healthcare crisis and taking food away from Wisconsin families.
When MAGA extremists came after our community including our immigrant and refugee community years ago, I stood strong in the face of hate, racism, and xenophobia. I stood strong with love for my community, for ALL in our community. Real leaders don't divide communities based on backgrounds or race.
Congressmen Tiffany, Van Orden, and Wied want to bring this hate and division to our local communities...to pit people against each other. They want us fighting in City Halls and County Boardrooms over who gets to live in our communities based on where they are from.
I snapped back to Congressman Tiffany in response to his hateful rhetoric back in 2023 and I stand by my words now: Immigrants are a part of the Eau Claire story, and we have been made better by those willing to make the Chippewa Valley their new home. Immigration has occurred throughout our history.
This, to me, is non-negotiable. The bare minimum that we deserve from our elected officials is kindness and empathy for everyone they represent. And everyone means everyone.
If Van Orden can’t even fulfill the bare minimum of his job, then his is unfit for it.
