ICE, Border Patrol, and other federal agents are escalating enforcement across Louisiana and our communities are paying the price. Parents are afraid to take their kids to school. I mean just this weekend, parents were detained by masked agents while en route to their child’s school Christmas program. Families are being separated with no answers and no transparency.

Border Patrol is reportedly leaving New Orleans temporarily and has been spotted in Baton Rouge.

Even Republican Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser has spoken out, saying the operation is hurting Louisiana’s economy: hotels, restaurants, and construction sites are struggling because workers are afraid to show up.

Officials report that only about 10% of those detained have criminal records. Families are being taken with no public information about where they’re held or what’s happening to them.
