As we approach the end of the year, I’m reflecting on my first year serving CA-27 in Washington -- and how the divided Congress is hurting those we swore to serve.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Back in 2009, I was chosen by President Obama to lead NASA as Chief of Staff.
At NASA, we put petty partisan politics aside to work toward the mission that brought us together: moving the country forward in space and science. Self-interest and ego went out the door because our work demanded it.
That’s what is missing in Congress today -- we should be working together to do better for American families.
During the historically-long government shutdown, my GOP colleagues refused to play ball to secure affordable healthcare. Time and again they have put the wants of the Trump Administration ahead of everyday Americans.
I decided to run for Congress to bring real results back to our communities. Right now, the Republican majority is refusing to work with us -- and refusing accountability.
