RAND’s purpose is straightforward: tackle the hardest problems and help policymakers make informed decisions.
As 2025 comes to a close, we’re looking back at the policy issues that defined our work this year—from strengthening the U.S. military and anticipating the future of AI, to competing with China, reimagining the Middle East, and pursuing a ceasefire in Ukraine. We also focused on improving U.S. health care, helping schools and students, and addressing the housing crisis.
This vital work will continue in 2026. We’ll also be expanding RAND’s research to tackle new priorities, including helping rural communities thrive, supporting “disconnected” youth, and showing how budget decisions in Washington affect Americans' lives.
At the RAND School of Public Policy, you'll gain the skills and knowledge needed to shape a better tomorrow. Full-time and part-time master's degree programs are available at our campuses in Santa Monica, CA, and Arlington, VA.
