Trump is further ramping up military aggression against Venezuela after months of U.S. escalations in the Caribbean. Trump began his lawless boat bombings in September, which have now murdered over 80 people. During one bombing, Pete Hegseth reportedly made an order to "kill everybody" — a potential war crime.1 Since then, Trump has directly threatened Nicolas Maduro, authorized covert CIA operations inside Venezuela, and just last week seized a Venezuelan oil tanker.2,3,4 Congress must assert its warmaking authorities and stop Trump from bringing the U.S. into an intractable regime-change war. The House will vote THIS WEEK to end the boat bombings and prevent all-out war. Sign the petition: Urge the House to vote YES this week on War Powers Resolutions and block war with Venezuela!Congressional Progressive Caucus leaders Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Chuy Garcia framed the clear choice on these votes: "As Trump once again threatens 'land strikes on Venezuela,' every U.S. representative will face a simple, up-or-down choice on the House floor this week: Will you stand up for the Constitution and vote to stop Trump’s illegal warmaking or not?"5 Only Congress has the constitutional power to declare war; lawmakers must use this authority to stop Trump. These votes are happening this week and could be the last chance to block Trump from going to war with Venezuela. Sign the petition: Pass War Powers Resolutions to stop Trump from going to war with Venezuela! Thanks for taking action,
