Hi friends, let’s talk redistricting!
We all know that one of the most important ways we can fight back against this horrific Trump administration is to flip the House in 2026.
If we succeed in breaking up the GOP trifecta, we can actually stop the harmful Republican legislation that’s wreaking havoc on our lives, our wallets, and our communities.
Republicans know that, too — which is why at Trump’s urging, the Texas GOP re-drew their congressional maps to get five more red seats. Here in California, we decided to fight fire with fire and overwhelmingly passed Prop 50, our own new maps that balance out those five red seats with five blue ones.
But it’s not just TX and CA. Ten more states have at least raised the possibility of redistricting before next year’s midterm elections. CNN has a helpful tracking map [[link removed]] — but aside from figuring out what’s going on, we also need to talk about what it means for our work to take back the House.

OK, so there are two main takeaways from all this:
1. We absolutely *can* take back the House next year. The current balance of power is 220 Republicans to 213 Democrats, and a lot of those 220 Republicans are very vulnerable to our great Dem challengers. (And there are rumors swirling that up to 20 House Republicans are thinking about retiring early 🤞)
2. It won’t be a cake walk. You can see from the map above that Republicans are holding onto their power for dear life — and they know they can’t win on their policies, so they’ve got to try to do it through the maps.
2026 is just 16 days away, so this work has to start NOW if it’s going to pay off next November. My team and I are mapping out all our plans to help flip the House. My district got more competitive in the redrawn maps, so I’ll need to focus on my re-election campaign — and like in past cycles, I’ll also be prioritizing giving as much support as possible to my colleagues who are facing major GOP challenges and to new Democratic candidates who are looking to flip key seats.
You play a critical role in this effort, too. As a voter, as a volunteer or organizer in your community, and as a grassroots supporter who can help fund campaign work.
All of it — running ads, getting polling, pushing turnout — takes resources, and for years now, grassroots donors have been the core driver of building successful campaign programs.
I don’t ask for donations too often. It’s important to me to use these emails to share updates from the House, get your input and perspective, and highlight big challenges or accomplishments. But I’m lucky to have an incredible team of supporters and constituents who step up when it matters most — and right now, it matters.
At the end of December, we’ll have a big FEC filing deadline, and the report we file will show how ready we are to win in 2026. My team is working to raise an additional $50,000 online by 12/31. That’s a lot of money, but there are a lot of people on this team! If everyone reading this gives just $5, we’ll be done by the end of the day.
Will you help?
Click here or on the buttons below to give whatever you can before our end-of-December FEC filing deadline, and let’s get ready to win big and flip the House next year. [[link removed]]
