Friend,

8 years ago, twelve Coloradans were taken too soon at a movie theater in Aurora.

Since then, I have gotten to know many of the victims' families and I stand in awe of their courage and strength. Many have become stewards in our community, and their lived example is an inspiration to us all.

I've been working every day since to prevent the kind of gun violence that devastated the Aurora community eight years ago today. And it's been over a year since I helped House Democrats pass the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, and Mitch McConnell and his gun lobby funded majority continue to let life-saving bills like this one gather dust on their desks.

We haven't forgotten the victims and survivors of senseless gun violence, and we cannot afford to lose steam now. We owe it to them to make good on our promise to honor them with action.

Gun violence is a crisis in our country and it doesn't matter if you live in a red or blue district, we must remain committed to making change and showing that just because time has passed, our urgency to addressing gun violence has not.

If you're with me, join me in demanding McConnell and his allies take action on gun violence prevention immediately: [link removed]

In solidarity,

Jason
