This week, I met (at a safe distance and in my Patriots-themed face mask) with school administrators to discuss the challenges Massachusetts faces as we plan for the next academic year.
With all the uncertainty we face, some things are clear:
-
We cannot expect schools to build an effective plan for reopening without the confidence that they'll have the financial support needed from the federal government.
-
They cannot reopen safely without the basic resources needed to keep everyone healthy.
-
I will never allow the Trump administration to put our students, teachers, faculty, staff, and their families at risk.
It's well past time for Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans to take action. Our COVID-19 recovery legislation has been collecting dust on their desks for more than a month.
This is unacceptable.
I want to know what you'd need to see in place to feel safe sending your kids back to school, and why you think Mitch and his buddies are dragging their feet. Join the conversation on Facebook.
