Every day, millions of people in America experience a system that confuses punishment with safety.
But safety is more than that. Safety looks like:
- Stable housing
- Access to education
- Living wage jobs
- Communities supported—not surveilled
At Campaign Zero, we use data to expose how current systems fail people and to build new models rooted in care, accountability, and opportunity.
Leveraging our data and policy analysis, our work this year uncovered the truth behind:
- Parole policies designed to keep people trapped;
- Drug-free zone laws that stack years onto sentences with no public safety benefit;
- Jury duty systems that block Black and brown residents from serving;
- Subjective criteria used to label someone as a gang member and increase time of incarceration.
These systems aren’t broken—they’re working exactly as designed. And that’s why we’re building something different.
Thank you for being part of the community reshaping what real safety can look like.
