MOAC20 Annual Conference Session Moves to Virtual Only
Missouri Bishop Bob Farr has decided to shift the plan for the Saturday, August 22 Annual Conference to a virtual-only event. Due to the rise of COVID-19 cases across the state, Bishop Farr feels the decision to move to a virtual-only event is the best to help reduce the risk of further spreading the virus. Emails with updated information were sent on Friday, July 17 to clergy and lay members and Conference at-large members. Please contact the Office of Connectional Ministries if you did not receive the email. The session begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 22 and is expected to last two hours. Watch the digital video reports that have been prepared in lieu of the three-day session at [link removed] [link removed]. Plans continue to move forward with in-person Ordination (2 p.m.) and Commissioning (4 p.m.) Services at Missouri UMC with limited, invite-only guest attendance and safety precautions including masking and social distancing. Death of Ruth Handy
Prayers are requested for the family of Mrs. Ruth Handy on her death today, July 20. Mrs. Handy was the wife of Bishop W.T. Handy, resident bishop of the Missouri area from 1980-1992. Tentative funeral arrangements include private graveside service with a larger memorial service planned post-social distancing requirements. Words of comfort may be sent to her son, Rev. Stephen Handy, lead pastor of McKendree UMC in Nashville, Tenn., 608 Logwood Briar Circle, Brentwood, TN 37027, mailto:

U.S. Census
About 62 percent of households in Missouri have responded to the 2020 Census online, by mail, or by phone. The Census Bureau initiated a soft launch on July 16 of census takers visiting households that have not responded yet in a few key communities, one being Kansas City. Widespread visits will begin on August 11 and conclude by October 31. More information on safety, confidentiality, and identifying a census taker can be found [link removed] here.
