The Maine Department of Labor (MDOL), in partnership with the Manufacturers Association of Maine, Maine Defense Industry Alliance, Maine MEP, and other key higher education and state agencies, was recently provisionally selected by US DOL to support defense and advanced manufacturing employers’ investment in workforce training.

If awarded in early 2026, the grant will reimburse employers for eligible training for new and incumbent workers in the defense and advanced manufacturing sectors, with a focus on skilled trades and expanded digital & AI competencies.

To ensure this effort addresses industry priorities, we need your help. By December 23, please complete a brief 10-minute survey to help identify priority occupations and digital skills needed to support Maine’s defense and manufacturing workforce: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6BJX9GJ

This survey effort builds on recent research published in the Advanced Manufacturing Talent Roadmap.

Thank you for your input,

The Maine Department of Labor
