Message from Congressman Scott Fitzgerald
Good morning, everyone!
Last week, I issued the following statement after voting to pass S. 1071, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026.
“I was proud to vote for the FY26 NDAA as it advances President Trump’s mission to keep America strong, secure, and dominant on the world stage. The bill accomplishes this by strengthening border security, accelerating next-generation military technologies, and investing in the ships, aircraft, and munitions needed to maintain American dominance. Most importantly, it puts our servicemembers first by authorizing a 3.8% pay raise and includes support for their families.
“This legislation also codifies fifteen executive orders issued by President Trump and incorporates over thirty of his legislative priorities. These include declaring a national emergency at the southern border, eliminating DEI initiatives within the Department of War, and revising the National Missile Defense Policy to reflect the Golden Dome for America Policy. The FY26 NDAA is the kind of focused, no-nonsense policy that our nation deserves.”

Rep. Fitzgerald Chairs Joint Judiciary Subcommittee Hearing on Obamacare Subsidy Fraud
Recently, as Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust, I held a joint hearing with the Subcommittee on Oversight titled, “Fighting Obamacare Subsidy Fraud: Is the Administrative Procedure Act Working as Intended?” I issued the following statement about the hearing:
“A recent GAO report showed how Obamacare subsidies are riddled with fraud. After 15 years, it’s clear that Obamacare has proven to be a litany of broken promises. Premiums have skyrocketed, patient choice has been taken away, and taxpayer dollars have been wasted.
“Despite this, Democrats shut down the government for 43 days and demanded a massive bailout for a system and a subsidy sunset they established themselves when they passed the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022 with all Democrat votes.
“Congress cannot keep writing blank checks for Obamacare. It is heavily subsidized and keeps costs high. Instead, we should fix our healthcare system by passing meaningful, structural reforms.
“In the Working Families Tax Cuts bill, Republicans prevented illegal aliens from receiving premium tax credits. We also removed the cap on repayments to the federal government for excessive subsidies and added stricter eligibility verification to ensure people do not receive generous subsidies before their eligibility is determined.
“I also support several bills that would codify important reforms, including the Trump Administration’s 2019 Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) Rule, and the 2018 Trump Administration Rules on Association Health Plans (AHPs) and Short-Term, Limited Duration Insurance (STLDI).”
Rep. Fitzgerald: A Merger Could Bring Better Streaming
In a crossover event fit for Hollywood, Netflix is acquiring Warner Bros. Before the merger was even planned, Senator Elizabeth Warren decided it would be a supervillain origin story.
However, the reality of today’s entertainment market is that fewer streaming apps could deliver a better product at a cheaper price for consumers.

Rep. Fitzgerald Discusses Chairing Joint Judiciary Subcommittee Hearing on Obamacare Subsidy Fraud
In case you missed it, I recently joined Fox Business to discuss the joint Subcommittee hearing I held on Obamacare subsidy fraud.
After 15 years, it’s clear the Obamacare experiment is nothing more than a laundry list of broken promises. Premiums have skyrocketed, patient choice has been taken away, billions of taxpayer dollars have been abused, and health insurance companies have been further enriched.
A new report by GAO exposed how the Obamacare exchange has been riddled with fraud. In plan year 2025, GAO created 20 fake identities and submitted applications on the Obamacare exchange. 19 of the 20 applicants received subsidized coverage, and coverage for 18 of the fake applicants remained active as of September 2025.
Rep. Fitzgerald Statement on Passage of the INVEST Act to Expand Access to Capital for Small Businesses
Last week, H.R. 3383, the Incentivizing New Ventures and Economic Strength Through Capital Formation (INVEST) Act, passed the House of Representatives.
America’s capital markets are the backbone of our economy. As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, I’ve seen firsthand how urgently we need to modernize the rules to expand access for small businesses and investors.
The INVEST Act gives more Americans access to early-stage investment opportunities, opens up financing for small businesses, and protects seniors from scams.
