Welcome Home Proud Michigan Educator
*Home for the Holidays…and Ready for Recertification!*
As the season of gathering, giving, and joyful reunion arrives, many loved ones return home—and some may even be considering a return to Michigan classrooms! If someone you cherish has been teaching out of state, share a warm “Welcome Home” and explore a special pathway for renewing a Michigan teaching certificate on the Welcome Home Proud Michigan Educator webpage [ [link removed] ].
‘Tis also the season for schools and educators to check those credentials twice! Districts should begin reviewing staff credentials for 2025 and remind educators with certificates expiring June 30, 2025, to log into the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS) [ [link removed] ] and update their information. Certificates can be renewed starting January 1 with no loss of validity—helping everyone avoid accidental lapses (and costly State Aid deductions for districts).
Educators, partner with your employer to ensure you're ready for the 2025-26 school year. Review your credential, confirm your Education-Related Professional Learning (ERPL), and make sure your District Provided Professional Development (DPPD)/State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs) are recorded in MOECS.
Explore all renewal options on the Education-Related Professional Learning webpage [ [link removed] ]—and enjoy a smooth, stress-free start to the new year!

Coming in January! Michigan Teachers Can Earn Grant Awards for National Board Certification
The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is pleased to announce a third round of the National Board Recognized Achievement Grant (27m). Teachers who currently hold National Board Certification at the time of application may be eligible to participate regardless of whether they have received awards in previous rounds. The application window will open January 14, 2026, and close at 5:00 p.m. on February 25, 2026. Teachers are encouraged to communicate with their districts. Local education agencies (both traditional public school districts and public school academies) and intermediate school districts must apply on behalf of educators.
