Marjorie Taylor Greene’s extreme bill would criminalize gender-affirming care.


ACLU Supporter, we have an urgent action alert from Capitol Hill that we hope you can take a moment on today: The House of Representatives is set to vote on two extreme bills to criminalize gender-affirming care for youth tomorrow, and we cannot allow them to pass. <[link removed]>

The first bill comes from Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, and if signed into law, it would be the first time that lifesaving health care for transgender people would be criminalized in federal law. It would mean doctors could receive prison sentences of up to 10 years.

The second bill bans Medicaid coverage of transgender health care for those under the age of 18.

The time to flood inboxes is now: Send a message to your representative urging them to vote no on H.R. 3492 and H.R. 498 and to protect health care for trans youth now. <[link removed]>

ACLU Supporter, that Congress would even think of voting on bills like these is terrifying. Some families with transgender youth have already taken the frantic step of leaving the United States for fear of exactly these kinds of proposals becoming the law of the land.

We simply cannot and will not allow these harmful bills to move forward. Families and doctors should have trust, respect, and privacy when making medical decisions – not political interference and criminal sanctions. <[link removed]>

Every leading medical and mental health organization in the country – including the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics – agrees that gender-affirming health care is necessary, lifesaving, safe, and effective.

Access to this critical health care is a fundamental right for all trans people. Let's make sure Congress hears from us on this: Tell them to vote NO on H.R. 3492 and H.R. 498 now. <[link removed]>
