Hello John, [link removed] [[link removed]]
There are moments when the world changes in an instant—when ordinary routines are shattered, when joy becomes fear, when futures are stolen. That is what happened exactly one year ago, at Abundant Life Christian School.
A student and a teacher were killed.
Six others were shot.
Everyone there that day and their entire community will remember the terror of that day for the rest of their lives.
Students will remember sirens and blood, parents will remember the excruciating minutes and hours waiting to find out if they would be reunited with their child. Will you stand with us now to demand that lawmakers do something to prevent tragedies like this one? [[link removed]]
After the shooting, the community came together. Neighbors wrapped their arms around grieving families. Donations poured in. Meal trains and vigils were organized. People showed up. People showed love.
But let us be clear. Love should never be required to heal wounds that could have been prevented in the first place . None of our peer countries experience the devastation of regular school shootings. None experience tens of thousands of gun deaths every single year.
Demand Lawmakers Prioritize Gun Violence Prevention [[link removed]]
We know how to stop this. And yet.
Not a single new gun law was passed in Wisconsin in the year since this tragedy. While some state leaders pushed for stronger gun laws that could save lives across the state, many stood in the way , and some even tried to weaken those already in place.
I know, John, that you do not accept this. You know we can do better. I know it too. And our legislators need to hear this from us. So please: Today, add your name to the scores of people across Wisconsin standing up for safety. [[link removed]] For healing. For our children.
