Dear Friend,
As a photojournalist, when I walk through New York City, I see more than streets and buildings. I see people and wonder about their struggles and triumphs. That is why I’m proud to work with City Limits, a nonprofit newsroom committed to amplifying voices too often overlooked.
One of my favorite projects this year was New York City Residents, Finish This Sentence: “I Want My Next Mayor To…” I had the privilege of interviewing ordinary New Yorkers as they shared their hopes for the city. One tenant told us, "I want my next mayor to lower the cost of rent and housing.” A parent said, "I want my next mayor to provide more resources for youth.” Another urged, "I want my next mayor to improve city shelters.” These voices aren’t just wishes; they are urgent calls for change.
