Canada lynx are elusive, solitary cats. They once ranged from Alaska deep into the lower 48 states, but their population has dwindled.

The Center went to court to protect their habitat — also home to gray wolves and northern long-eared bats — near the Boundary Waters in Minnesota.

We won, and now a congressional committee is investigating us. This bogus attack proves our work matters. And we're hitting a nerve.

Twin Metals bankrolled a lobby campaign to overturn denial of two leases for a copper mine near the Boundary Waters, one of America's most beloved wilderness areas.

That campaign included donations to House Republicans, including some of the same committee members who launched the investigation.

The shady ties between the committee members, the Trump administration, and the Trump family are what really need to be investigated. What this committee is doing to us is a blatant, disturbing abuse of power.

But it's typical of those who see the natural world as a source of private profit and endangered species and wild places as sacrificial pawns.

Even national parks aren't immune to the blatant hypocrisy and flouting of federal law. Last week the Center sued Trump for putting a picture of himself on the annual pass for national parks.

Forces in Washington — and their big-money backers — know we're uncompromising in our fight for wildlife and public lands. They see how we win and are grasping for ways to stop us.

They won't find any.
