** NEWS COMING THIS WEEK
------------------------------------------------------------
Pittsburgh City Council is nearing the end of an unusually chaotic budget process and will decide whether to cut spending or raise taxes (or both) from Mayor Gainey’s initial proposal, which members say doesn’t add up.
Council will tentatively hold a line-item vote Thursday at 1:30 p.m. on its version of the budget, potentially offering the public’s first glimpse at the final product (stream here ([link removed]) ).
The public can weigh in 11 a.m. Saturday during a hearing at the City-County Building (sign up to speak here ([link removed]) ). Council has scheduled preliminary and final votes on the budget and tax bills for Sunday.
