PFAW Member, Have you had ENOUGH? ENOUGH of Trump’s sickening cocktail of lies, hatred, and contempt for democracy and the rule of law? ENOUGH of Congressional Republicans enabling his every bad decision, bigoted policy, and attack on our Constitution? ENOUGH of Trump? Well, you’re not alone. And it’s time to harness the passions and energy of the tens of millions of Americans who have had ENOUGH of the Trump era, which has been defined by police killings and other manifestations of the racism that has been exacerbated and encouraged by this president … by the deadly mismanagement of our current public health crisis … and by unprecedented corruption and incompetence. That’s why I am excited to write you today about the launch of PFAW’s new ENOUGH OF TRUMP 2020 campaign using ART to build our movement and mobilize voters in key presidential target states. We’re collaborating with some of the country’s most prominent artists to galvanize voters this fall through grassroots action to support Democratic candidates and oppose Trump’s reelection. Artists like Shepard Fairey, Carrie Mae Weems, and Ed Ruscha are joining many others in donating their time and original, custom art pieces to raise awareness of the harm Trump has caused and the dire need to get him out of office – all under the simple theme of “ENOUGH!” And we’ll be lifting up the work of artists from especially impacted communities, including many Black artists, and local artists from our campaign’s target states. The New York Times published a piece today on the launch of our campaign – "For Some Artists, Election Season Means ‘Enough of Trump’" – noting, "More than a dozen artists including Carrie Mae Weems, Ed Ruscha and Shepard Fairey have contributed art to an advocacy campaign aimed at inspiring voters in November." PFAW founder Norman Lear captured the essence of the campaign in a quote included in the Times article: “Art has the power to connect with people’s hearts as well as their minds ... This campaign will get people thinking and talking and feeling in their guts how much they’ve had enough of this president. And we’ll remind them that the only remedy for that is to vote.” From registering voters and ramping up election security to getting out the progressive vote and ensuring voter safety with vote by mail and other solutions, there’s a lot to do between now and November. Our campaign will be focused on building the volunteer base and energizing voters in a few key target states, particularly Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan – the three historically blue states where Trump eked out his 2016 Electoral College win. And there will be plenty to do for activists in other states as well, including the crowdsourcing of new grassroots art submissions from supporters across the country. Please stay tuned over the coming weeks for exciting updates and more ways to get involved. In the meantime, please check out the website, browse the art, sign up to take action, and help SPREAD THE WORD: Along with artists, celebrities, and other influencers, we’re relying on our grassroots army of PFAW members and activists to help push this campaign far and wide! Thank you for being a part of all of our 2020 work to defeat Trump and Trumpism and save our democracy. In unity, – Ben Jealous, President
