It's time to raise hell.? ? ? ? ? Friend ? last Wednesday, in what could be the most damaging and far-reaching environmental decision of this presidency, Trump announced sweeping changes to NEPA ? the National Environmental Policy Act.

Under the new rule, agencies will no longer need to consider climate change when approving highways, pipelines, and other infrastructure proposals. And the public will lose opportunities to provide input, as the law intended.

There's just been a major update: We've received word that Congress is preparing to introduce legislation that would block implementation of Trump's new rule.

We are organizing a major response right now ? we need to raise hell to get this to a vote. The problem: We are quickly running out of resources.

Friend, we need your help today. A donor has agreed to donate $500,000 dollars ? only if 10,000 LCV members chip in before the end of the month [link removed] and right now we're not on track to get there.

That's a gamechanger ? not only on this fight, but on multiple fronts. Trump knows this month is likely his last chance to push through damaging rules like this one before the election is in full swing. Read below ? he's trying to squeeze in as much as he can. This is not a moment the environmental movement can stand down.

I hope you'll pitch in: Small donations count just as much as big ones toward meeting this goal. If everyone who reads this message donated just $5, we'd blow through this goal in minutes.

The best thing you can do is to renew your LCV membership today ? it costs just $5 ? [link removed]

This is truly an all-hands-on-deck moment. In addition to this massive pressure campaign to save NEPA, we are gearing up for an unprecedented organizing effort ahead of November's election. Meanwhile, in addition to failing in his response to the coronavirus crisis and costing over a hundred thousand people their lives, Trump is using the pandemic as a cover to advance some of his most destructive policies yet: Since the beginning of the pandemic, Trump has rolled back EPA safety and enforcement measures regarding the release of mercury and other toxic pollutants into the air and groundwater. Those rollbacks are tentatively set to expire in August ? but Trump is pushing ? hard ? to make them permanent. Make a gift to LCV today to help us force the EPA to do its job ? [link removed] As people rise up across America to dismantle systemic racism, Trump continues to advance an agenda that directly targets the communities who suffer most from its effects. Black, Indigenous, and Latinx communities already experience higher rates of health issues like asthma due to poor air quality ? and they are now seeing far higher death rates from COVID-19. This is a matter of life and death. Contribute TODAY to help our election efforts and get him and his racist administration voted out of office this November ? [link removed] The Trump administration just announced plans to open up 82% of an Alaska reserve ? 18.7 million acres ? for oil and gas leasing, which would more than double the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses estimated to be released as a result of drilling in the next 20 years. The environmental movement needs to put up a huge fight. Donate today ? [link removed] Recently, Trump also signaled that he and the Department of the Interior are planning on opening up the Gulf of Mexico to oil drilling after the November election ? despite bipartisan opposition on many fronts. Let's make him a lame duck president in November. Make a donation today ? [link removed] Meanwhile, Congress is preparing to pass another coronavirus relief bill ? and Trump is still trying to find ways to get bailout funds earmarked for the oil and gas industry. We stopped him the first time ? and we can stop him again, but not without your help. Pitch in today and block his efforts once and for all ? [link removed] This is only a fraction of what we're going to be up against in the coming weeks. I can't stress this enough: this $500,000 grant would significantly improve our chances of winning many of the fights we desperately need to win ? but first, we need those 10,000 members to chip in before the end of the month.

If everyone reading this right now pitched in ? even $5 ? we'd blow through this goal in minutes.

Please ? don't wait. As I said before, this month will set the stage for the weeks ahead. Let's start off strong. Make a donation to LCV today ? [link removed]

Thank you for being a part of this historic fight. Together, we can do anything.

Sincerely,
