1. You've just joined a big community – 10 million strong – of farmers, activists, global citizens, volunteers, movement builders, and educators that all believe that poverty is solvable. If you're the kind of person who wants to do what it takes – whatever it takes – to fight poverty, hunger, and injustice, you're in the right place. You can expect to feel like a member of this community. We'll invite you to participate, comment, react, support, and engage. Together, we really are bigger than the sum of our parts.
2. We'll always tell you why we're asking for your help and support. When we ask for money, it's because this fight can't happen without all kinds of support. We want you to know that when you donate, we don't use your money to patch a problem and then walk away. What sets Oxfam apart is that we're in it for the long haul. So that means when we respond to emergencies like earthquakes, famines, and other disasters, we stick around to help communities rebuild stronger.
3. When you support Oxfam, we're going to do our best to let you know the difference you made. You're going to be reaching people in more than 90 countries around the world, like rural farmers in Cambodia learning to grow rice sustainably, women in Mali establishing small businesses, workers in the United States fighting for better conditions, families in South Sudan staying healthy with clean drinking water, and so many more. You're part of amazing change – and we want you to know about it.
4. We'll be honest about the challenges that lie ahead. Our goal is to challenge the injustices that keep people trapped in poverty, and that means we're going to need your help taking on governments, corporations, and other powerful interests to fight back against abuses of power. Progress is being made every day – and, honestly, there's a lot more work to do. The good news is that when we speak up together, the powerful listen. So, we're going to need your voice – we hope you're ready.
