I want you to hear from me directly. Last month, Congress ended a 43-day shutdown — the longest in U.S. history. Roughly 900,000 federal employees were furloughed, and millions of Americans saw essential services disrupted.
I saw up close what this shutdown meant for real people. Families who rely on SNAP to put food on the table faced hardship. Our federal workforce, the people who keep our nation running, was pushed to the brink. This is exactly why I have fought and will continue fighting for responsible solutions that keep our government open, protect the most vulnerable among us, and ensure that access to quality, affordable health care is not taken away from more than 20 million Americans.
We cannot allow Trump and the GOP to continue playing political games with people’s livelihoods. Together, we can keep up the fight.
