Dear John,
Holding our elected officials accountable for the votes they take each year is a cornerstone of our work here at Maine Conservation Voters.
And, today, we’re sharing with you our new 2025 Environmental Scorecard [[link removed]] , which tells the story of what happened in 2025 – the first half of the 132nd session of the Maine Legislature.
Check out the scorecard to see how your lawmakers voted this year on key environmental and democracy bills >> GET THE SCORES [[link removed]]
The Scorecard puts you in the room where it happened , taking you behind each bill and vote count with important facts and statistics alongside quotes and insights from lawmakers and policy advocates. This year, it grades lawmakers on the votes they took on six key bills, ranging from preventing spills of toxic PFAS to removing Maine from the National Popular Vote Compact to respecting the Wabanaki Nations’ inherent sovereignty.
We can’t score every bill, but for those unscored bills salient to the environment and our democracy, we’ve included an “Other Noteworthy Bills” section. After that, we have a preview of the carry-over bills we’ll keep pushing forward in the second half of the 132nd session, beginning in January.
The Scorecard is a critical and timely reminder that we can and must hold our elected officials responsible for their actions . And, with a few short weeks left before the start of the second half of the 132nd session, we’re ready and excited to keep fighting for solutions for Maine people and the environment.
Thank you for standing with us as we face consequential threats, seize opportunities, and hold our elected officials accountable for their votes.
Onward!
