U.S. farmed animals need your help. Every day, they endure grueling transport on crowded trucks as they are sent to slaughterhouses. The only source of protection for them during these journeys is the alarmingly inadequate and rarely enforced Twenty-Eight Hour Law.


The Twenty-Eight Hour Law requires transport trucks to be stopped and unloaded, as animals are offered five hours of food, water, and rest if transported for longer than 28 consecutive hours. Shockingly, the law does not apply to the 9 billion birds transported to slaughter each year. Thankfully, the Humane Transport of Farmed Animals Act would help protect these vulnerable animals by improving enforcement of the Twenty-Eight Hour Law.
