Hi John,
Well, it’s been a year. There’s a lot I could say. But as we reach the end of a hard year, I want to focus on one thing: the people and communities who have courageously risen to the occasion.
If you follow us on Instagram [[link removed]] , you might’ve seen our divas of the week posts over the past year. We highlight a few different people each week who have done something meaningful, proving that one person really can make a difference. Early on, it was Maine Governor Janet Mills facing off with President Trump [[link removed]] to defend trans student athletes and oppose federal government intrusion on Maine law. More recently, we featured child care workers protecting families [[link removed]] they care for from ICE.
No matter the diva, the point is the same. In the face of a terrifying president hell-bent on taking away our basic needs programs and rights to give more handouts to billionaires and retaliating against anyone who defies him, it’s important to witness people refusing to capitulate. People who are defying, denying, and defeating Trump’s hate-fueled, anti-woman agenda.
In that vein, instead of our usual newsletter structure I’m sharing some of my favorite pieces of our content from this year that highlight acts of courage. (I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention: today is the last day you can purchase anything from our supporter shop [[link removed]] —all of which fuels our work—so it will arrive by December 25).
Without further ado, here are my diva-esque pieces of content from this year!
1. We worked with State Attorneys General to give trans youth an important message: We have your back.

2. We projected a clear demand to the Trump administration during the government shutdown: stop letting kids and families go hungry to give billionaires another tax break.

3. One of my extraordinary colleagues wrote a beautiful letter to her trans daughter [[link removed]] at the start of Trump’s second term – and it’s something I think everyone should read.

4. We uncovered what’s really going on when the far right talks about being “pro-baby:” [[link removed]] it’s white Christian nationalism in disguise, and no, it won’t make it easier to raise kids in this country.

I hope as the year wraps up, you think about the divas in your life (maybe shoot them a text telling them how much you admire their activism! I promise it’ll mean a lot!) and also give yourself some kudos for the ways you’ve shown up this year, too. Thank you for being a part of our community—and see you next year!
In solidarity,
Hannah Finnie
