It Gets Better isn't a bandaid, it's a rallying cry.

Hello John,
I’ve recently moved to a new city, which means I’m explaining what I do for work a lot.
Almost every time, the responses from people follow the same script:
“Wow, that must be a tough job right now. Are LGBTQ+ youth okay?” And then, “Thank you for doing this. It’s really important.”
I have the privilege of sharing the resiliency of LGBTQ+ youth, as seen in our Youth Voices [[link removed]]. How our It Gets Better: Changemakers [[link removed]] continue to show up across the United States, despite the crushing weight of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and social changes. When I get to talk about these young people, I’m overwhelmed with pride and joy. LGBTQ+ youth are standing up for themselves and their friends. This current grantee class is full of brilliant and bold youth who are creatively carving out space for themselves when it feels like the whole world is out to dull their shine.
For 15 years, It Gets Better has been showing up for LGBTQ+ youth by giving them the resources and the inspiration they need in order to create beautiful futures for themselves.
Right now, “it gets better” is a flutter of hope. An inspiration against a backdrop of negativity and disappointment. It is a promise for a future out there that we can build together. It isn’t a band-aid; it’s a rallying cry.
Last night, Jewish people around the world lit the first candle for Hanukkah. As it so often goes, our hearts were broken while lighting, for our people in Australia who were brutally attacked while trying to celebrate joy. In the northern hemisphere, it’s when the nights are their longest, their darkness all encompassing. And yet, here is a light, slowly growing over the course of eight days. Our tradition teaches that we should put our hanukkiyot in windows facing the street so that everyone can see this light growing in the darkness.
LGBTQ+ youth need that light. Jewish LGBTQ+ youth need that light. They need to see it growing, even as the darkness seems to go on forever and hate threatens around every corner.
Your support now [[link removed]] means we can continue to empower the next generation of changemakers. It means we can continue building that future and being that light, together.
Join us in making the world better [[link removed]] for all LGBTQ+ youth.
