The Center for Client Safety investigated illegal dispensing and related violations at an abortion facility that was formerly operated by the late LeRoy Carhart in Nebraska. In October, this investigation led State Senator Holdcroft to hold a legislative hearing. CCS team members gave written and oral testimony that explained serious concerns about oversight. Since then, the Senate committee has asked CCS for more documents, and follow-up work is ongoing. 

Then, earlier this month, the Center for Client Safety achieved a significant milestone in their oversight work in the state of  Illinois. CCS requested a hearing and then testified before the Illinois Health Facilities & Services Review Board regarding Hope Clinic for Women’s attempt to relinquish its Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center license. They presented critical findings—including documented medical emergencies and past safety deficiencies—and formally requested a full inspection and complete transparency in the licensure process. Their testimony ensured these concerns are now part of the official public record.

NOTE: The Center for Client Safety was previously described by Americans United for Life as having been “launched” by AUL; this characterization was inaccurate. In August, we acquired the organization, which now operates as an independent enforcement division of Americans United for Life. Its mission is to enforce applicable laws, investigate potential violations, submit complaints, pursue appeals, and collaborate with relevant authorities to ensure that laws are properly applied to protect women and children.

Advent is a sacred season of preparation, calling us to remember that God Himself entered the world in the smallest and most vulnerable form, a child in the womb. Join Americans United for Life in this 25 day biblical reflection series!
