John, we know there are plenty of issues with a seemingly black-and-white (or red and blue) divide.
Congressional stock trading is not one of them.
For years, Republicans have pinned Former Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi as the face of the issue. In the meantime, many of their own representatives, like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, have also been trading throughout their tenure in Congress without much pushback.
On the other side of the issue sit two of the most diametrically opposed members of Congress: Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Josh Hawley. Take just about any other issue Congress fights over, and you’ll see them standing firmly at opposite ends of the debate — but they’ve come together to speak up against congressional stock trading.
We’re holding the worst traders in Congress accountable for profiting off their office, and supporting leaders who are paving the way to banning the trade for good.
Every contribution to Ban The Trade supports both parts of our fight: our pressure campaign on current members of Congress to pass a ban on congressional stock trading, and our election project to support candidates who live up to our principles and challenge the most notorious traders. Please, will you chip in $20, $8, or even just $3 today to help us get the job done?
Together, we’re working towards a future free of financial corruption in Congress. Thank you for being part of it with us.
